Event Cancellation Notice: After the Big Bang!
We regret to inform you that the "After the Big Bang!" pre-opening festival show scheduled for Saturday, 10th August 2024 at 3 PM at the V&A Waterfront Amphitheater has been canceled due to unforeseen bad weather. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. Please stay tuned for updates on rescheduling or future events.

PRE OPENING FESTIVAL SHOW : After the Big Bang!

Date: Saturday 10th August 2024 @ 3pm.

Venue: V&A Waterfront Amphitheater.

This show engages the public into an interactive voyage on our planet and into our solar system. This is a free event, open to the public.​​

Festival opening 

​Date:  Tuesday 13th August 6pm.

​Venue:  Radisson Red, V&A Waterfront.

The SuperFile Art Tech festival will officially be opened by astronaut-artist Dr. Sian Proctor, the first African American Female mission pilot.

Our Better Nature Social Media Campaign 

​Date:  Tuesday 13th August 6pm.

​Venue: Radisson Red, V&A Waterfront.

During the festival opening , the winners of the V&A Waterfront’s Our Better Nature essay/poetry contest will be announced and receive their prize from the hands of Dr.Sian Proctor, the only African American Woman astronaut spaceship pilot.​​​

Our Better Nature Art Exhibition 

​Date: Thursday 15 August 6pm.

​Venue: Art@Africa Gallery, 1st floor, Clocktower Centre, V&A Waterfront.

​A meaningful art exhibition in collaboration with the V&A Waterfront around the theme Sustaining Our Seas and Skies runs from 15 – 30th August 2024. This is a free event.

​Fynbos Spirits

​Date:  June-September 2024.

Venue: Spearhead Deck, V&A Waterfront.

 

Fynbos Spirits is an exciting interactive multi-media art experience by artist David Griessel in collaboration with the V&A Waterfront and Art@Africa around the theme Our Better Nature.

This is a free event, open to the public.​​

​Earthlight Space2Inspire

​Date: August 2024.

​Venue: Site-triggered spots between the Zeitz Museum and The ClockTower Centre – Silo District V&A Waterfront.

​EarthLight Space2inspire is a groundbreaking augmented reality art experience by artist and astronaut Dr. Sian Proctor. Individuals use their smartphones to virtually interact with art, poetry, and animations curated around the themes of Afrofuturism and space exploration. This is a free event.

Cosmic Ocean

Date: 15 August 2024 @ 6pm - this event runs in conjunction with Our Better Nature exhibition.

​Venue: Art@Africa Gallery, 1st Floor, Clocktower Centre, V&A Waterfront.

Jim Adams, former NASA Senior Executive and Director of Innovation at Holo Art Corp, will unveil "The Sound of Water," a prototype sculpture by Cape Town artist Olivia Dunkley. This event launches a 4-month project with the V&A Waterfront, inviting the public to collect bottle caps for a 3D printed monumental artwork.

Origami in Space.

Date: Saturday 17 August @ 3pm.

​Venue:Level 2, Clocktower Centre, V&A Waterfront.

Join us for an afternoon of family fun and learning.

Japanese Origami master Kyoko shows you have to create amazing birds and other flying creatures out of special Origami paper. Your artwork will become part of an art installation in the Clocktower Centre.The is a free event.​​
